Why
Choose us?

Choosing a driveway company is mostly about trust. You are letting a team dig up the front of your home, and you are relying on them to price it honestly, turn up when they say they will, and leave behind something that still looks right in ten years. County Block Paving has been doing exactly that across Surrey and the South East for years. We never use subcontractors, we never ask for a deposit, and the price we quote is the price you pay.

The team that quotes is the team that builds.

We never use subcontractors, so the people you meet at the quote are the people on your driveway.

A fixed price that stays fixed.

No deposit up front, and no mid-job phone call about extra costs.

Built for the ground it sits on.

Surrey runs from heavy clay in the north to chalk and greensand in the south. We base and drain to suit your plot, not a standard spec.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything Surrey homeowners usually want to know before booking a new resin, tarmac or block paving driveway. Can’t see your question? Give us a call on 01483967140.

  • Every driveway is priced individually, because no two are the same. The cost depends on the size of the area, the surface you choose, the condition of the existing ground, and whether any drainage, edging or kerb work is needed. Tarmac is usually the most economical option over a large area, while block paving and premium resin finishes sit higher.

Rather than quote a figure that turns out to be wrong for your property, we price on request after a free, no‑obligation site visit. We measure up, talk through the options, and leave you with a fixed written quote. No deposits, no hidden extras, and the price we quote is the price you pay.

  • A typical domestic driveway takes three to five working days from first dig to final sweep. Resin driveways laid over a sound existing base can be finished in one to two days, while larger block paving projects with edging, steps or drainage work can run to a week or more.

We’ll give you a realistic start and finish date with your quote, and we never use subcontractors, so the team that starts your driveway is the team that finishes it.

  • In most cases, no. Under permitted development rules you can lay a front driveway of any size without planning permission provided the surface is permeable, or provided rainwater is directed to a border, lawn or soakaway within your own property rather than into the road.

Planning permission is generally needed if you are laying more than five square metres of non‑permeable surface that drains onto the highway, dropping a kerb, or working on a listed property or in a conservation area. We’ll flag anything that applies to your property during the site visit.

  • Resin gives a smooth, seamless, permeable finish in a wide choice of colours, ideal for modern properties and for anyone who wants a low‑maintenance, weed‑resistant surface.

Tarmac is hard‑wearing and cost‑effective, which makes it the practical choice for long drives and larger areas.

Block paving offers the widest range of colours, patterns and borders, and individual blocks can be lifted and replaced if they are ever damaged.

All three last for decades when the base is built properly. We’ll talk you through the options for your property, your budget and the style of the house.

  • Resin bound driveways are fully permeable when laid over a permeable base such as open‑graded asphalt, so surface water drains straight through rather than pooling or running off into the road. That keeps you inside permitted development rules and helps prevent surface flooding.

Where a driveway slopes towards the house or the highway, we’ll design in channel drainage or a soakaway as part of the quote so water is dealt with properly from day one.

  • Yes. All of our work is fully guaranteed, and we are insured, licensed and accredited. We’re also members of Checkatrade, so you can read verified reviews from customers across Surrey and Hampshire before you commit to anything.

Your guarantee is confirmed in writing with your quote, and we’re at the end of the phone afterwards if you ever need us.

  • Call us, or send an enquiry through the form on this page, and we’ll arrange a site visit at a time that suits you, including evenings and weekends. The visit and the written quote are completely free with no obligation to book.

We’ll measure up, talk through the surfaces and colours, give you honest, impartial advice on what will work best, and leave you with a fixed price. No pressure, and no salespeople.

  • No. We don’t take deposits and there are no hidden extras. You pay once the work is complete and you are happy with it. The price on your quote is the price on your invoice.

  • Sometimes. If your existing concrete or tarmac base is sound, level and well drained, resin can often be laid straight over the top, which saves both time and money.

Where the base is cracked, sinking or has been laid on poor foundations, overlaying it only hides the problem. In those cases we excavate and build a proper sub‑base. It costs a little more now and saves a full replacement later. We’ll tell you honestly which situation you’re in.

  • Your driveway will be out of use while we excavate and lay the new surface, so you’ll need to park on the road or with a neighbour for a few days. We’ll let you know exactly which days before we start.

We keep the site tidy, protect surrounding lawns and borders, remove all waste as we go and sweep up at the end of every day. Resin and tarmac surfaces are normally ready to walk on within hours and to drive on the following day.

  • Very little is needed. Sweep off leaves and debris now and again, and give the surface an occasional rinse. Resin and tarmac can be cleaned with a gentle jet wash on a wide fan setting; block paving benefits from topping up the kiln‑dried sand in the joints every few years to keep the blocks locked together and weeds down.

Avoid harsh chemicals and spot‑treat any oil marks quickly. Looked after, a well‑laid driveway will stay looking new for 20 years or more.

  • We install driveways and patios right across Surrey, including Guildford, Woking, Epsom, Reigate and Camberley, as well as the surrounding counties of Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire and West Sussex.

No job is too small or too big. If you’re not sure whether we reach your village, just give us a call. We usually do.

Still have a question about your driveway? We’re happy to talk it through, with no pressure and no obligation.
